Budgam, February 04: In a continued effort to combat drug menace, the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and recovered contraband from his possession.
A police team from Police Post Soibugh, during a checkpoint operation at Harran village, intercepted a suspicious individual. On spotting the police, he attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended. Upon conducting a personal search, authorities recovered a charas-like substance from him.
The accused has been identified as Sameer Ahmad Beigh, son of Ghulam Hassan Beigh, a resident of Check Soibugh. Following his arrest, a case under FIR No. 17/2025 has been registered at Police Station Budgam under relevant sections of law, and further investigation has been initiated.
The J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating drug-related activities in the region and urged the public to remain vigilant. Citizens are encouraged to report any drug peddling activities to the nearest police station to strengthen the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
