Kathua, February 14: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Kathua Police have recovered approximately 16.14 grams of heroin (Chitta) and arrested a drug peddler in the jurisdiction of PP Industrial Estate Hatli.
Acting on a tip-off from a reliable source, a police team led by PSI Shubham Mahajan, In-Charge PP Industrial Estates Kathua, under the supervision of SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena (IPS), Addl. SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak (JKPS), DySP Hqrs Kathua Sh. Manjeet Singh, and SHO PS Kathua, set up a special naka (checkpoint) near Hatli Morh on February 13.
During the operation, the police apprehended Yasir Hussain, son of Mohd. Yousaf, resident of Jagatpur, Tehsil & District Kathua, and found him in possession of 16.14 grams of heroin-like substance. The contraband was seized on the spot, and the accused was taken into custody.
A case has been registered at PS Kathua under FIR No. 71/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
Kathua Police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
