Janipur Police Nab Three Snatchers, Recover Stolen Property Within Six Hours
Jammu, February 4, 2025: Acting swiftly, Janipur Police arrested three snatchers and recovered stolen items, including a mobile phone and cash garlands, within six hours in two separate incidents.

In the first case, Shobhit Mahajan, a shopkeeper near Logan Park, lodged a complaint stating that a person had approached him for a puncture repair. While he was engaged in the work, the individual snatched his mobile phone and fled. Taking immediate action, Janipur Police registered FIR No. 14/2025 under Section 307 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and, within three hours, apprehended the accused, identified as Ritesh Kumar, son of Vashisht Tiwari, a resident of Bihar currently residing in Janipur, Jammu.

In another incident, shopkeeper Ashutosh Sudan, based at Main Stop Janipur, reported that an unidentified individual took advantage of an electricity outage in the evening to snatch a garland of currency notes worth ₹4,440. Police registered FIR No. 15/2025 under Section 307 BNS and, using both human intelligence and technical surveillance, apprehended two accused—Tarun Momen, son of Rajesh, and Ajay Sidu, son of Kewal, both residents of Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. The police also recovered four stolen currency garlands from their possession.

With all three suspects in custody and crucial evidence secured, the investigation is moving towards a strong prosecution. Jammu & Kashmir Police reaffirm their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring swift justice.
