Kathua, Feb 28: In a significant move against drug trafficking, Kathua Police have booked a habitual drug peddler under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act, 1988, and lodged him in District Jail Udhampur.
Acting under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Sh. Shobhit Saksena (IPS), a police team led by Inspector Tribhawan Khajuria (SHO, Lakhanpur), under the guidance of Addl SP Kathua, Sh. Rahul Charak (JKPS) and DySP DAR Kathua, apprehended the accused, Pardeep Dubey, son of Subash Chander, resident of Kanyari Janglote, Kathua.
The accused was involved in multiple cases of possession and transportation of narcotic drugs, including:
FIR No. 408/2022 (U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act) at Police Station Kathua.
FIR No. 29/2024 (U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act) at Police Station Lakhanpur.
To curb his illegal activities, a dossier was prepared and submitted to the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, who issued a detention warrant under the PITNDPS Act, 1988 (PSA). The warrant was subsequently executed, and the accused was shifted to District Jail Udhampur.
This decisive action by Kathua Police aims to eradicate drug trafficking and protect the youth from the menace of narcotics. The local residents have welcomed and appreciated this strong anti-drug initiative.
