DC Kishtwar Reviews Arrangements for Mahashivratri and Ramazan
Kishtwar, 24-02-2025: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan JKAS, today reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming festivals of Mahashivratri and Ramazan.

The primary focus of the meeting was to ensure the seamless management of essential services, security, and public convenience during the festive period. Emphasizing the regulation of prices, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to monitor the rates of essential commodities and ensure the availability of milk, cheese, vegetables, and other necessary items.

To maintain hygiene and sanitation, the Executive Officer Municipal Council was directed to ensure cleanliness in the town, particularly around religious places .Additionally, the repair of all non-functioning lights, especially in crowded areas, was prioritised. The CMO Kishtwar was directed to deploy medical team at all religious places across the district during the festivals. 

The DC also urged the organizing of zero-waste celebrations, encouraging proper waste management practices and the avoidance of polythene bags. Furthermore, the Executive Officer, Municipality was directed to place dustbins at all religious sites during the festivals to promote cleanliness.

The DC reviewed utility services and instructed the Executive Engineer PDD to ensure uninterrupted power supply. The Executive Engineer PHE was tasked with guaranteeing adequate water supply, proper chlorination of water tanks near religious places, and the repair of any water pipes or leakage issues.

The Assistant Director FCS&CA was directed to ensure the timely distribution of rations to beneficiaries and ensure adequate stock of LPG. For fire safety, the Fire and Emergency Department was directed to station fire tenders at key locations and install fire extinguishers at religious places.

A joint committee was also formed to conduct daily checks on the rates and quality of food products, with strict penalties for violations.

The SSP Kishtwar was urged to address security concerns, while the DC also directed the installation of CCTV cameras near temples, mosques, and shrines to enhance surveillance.

In a bid to ensure effective coordination, the Deputy Commissioner urged all stakeholders to work together to ensure the smooth observance of Mahashivratri and Ramzan, prioritizing public convenience, security, and civic responsibility.

Religious representatives also raised their concerns, and the DC assured them of the administration's full support in addressing these issues.

The meeting was attended by SSP Kishtwar Sh. Javed Iqbal-JKPS, ADC Kishtwar Sh. Pawan Kotwal(JKAS), ACR Kishtwar Idrees lone,AD FCS&CA Kishtwar Shafqat Ali Keen, EO Municipality/Dy. Registrar Kishtwar Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal, Tehsildar Kishtwar Nirbhay Sharma, ARTO Kishtwar Tasleem Wani, CMO Kishtwar, DSHO Kishtwar, representatives of traffic,various organizations, religious leaders, and prominent citizens.
