Kishtwar, February 3, 2025: In a significant move to promote agricultural mechanization, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), handed over a tractor to Abdul Salam Wani, a farmer from the remote village of Bhatta, Warwan in Sub-Division Marwah. The assistance was provided under the Farm Mechanization and Automation Scheme of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) for the year 2024-25.
The farmer received a 50% subsidy, up to a maximum of ₹5 lakh, to encourage modern farming practices in remote areas. Interacting with the beneficiary, DC Kishtwar emphasized the importance of mechanized farming and discussed how the newly provided tractor would help enhance agricultural productivity in the region.
It is worth mentioning that a similar initiative was undertaken last month when another farmer from Haynan, Marwah received a tractor under the same scheme.
The Agriculture Department has been extending subsidies ranging from 50% to 90% under various HADP initiatives to benefit farmers across the district. DC Kishtwar urged all farmers to take advantage of these schemes, highlighting how farm mechanization can significantly boost efficiency, reduce labor efforts, and improve crop yields in an economical and time-efficient manner.
The event was attended by Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Kishtwar, Amjad Hussain Malik, **Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO) Marwah
