Jammu,  Chief Minister Omar Abdullah attended a grand felicitation ceremony at the Gujjar Desh Charitable Trust (GDCT) in Jammu. The event, organized to honor distinguished personalities for their contributions to the Gujjar and Bakarwal community, saw the presence of several dignitaries, intellectuals, and community leaders.

In his address, CM Omar Abdullah lauded the efforts of the Trust in preserving and promoting the Gojri language, culture, and history. He emphasized the importance of cultural heritage and assured the government’s full support in strengthening the initiatives undertaken by the Trust. "Our government remains committed to assisting the Gujjar Desh Charitable Trust in all possible ways. The preservation of linguistic and cultural heritage is crucial for social harmony and progress," he stated.

The Gujjar Desh Charitable Trust, founded in 1992 by visionary leader Dr. Masud Ahmed Choudhary, has played a pivotal role in uplifting the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities. Over the years, the Trust has actively worked towards the socio-economic and educational development of the community, fostering awareness about their rights and traditions.

During the event, notable scholars and activists were felicitated for their relentless contributions to the cause of education, language promotion, and community service. Several cultural performances showcasing traditional Gojri music and dance added vibrancy to the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Masud Ahmed Choudhary expressed gratitude to CM Omar Abdullah for his continued support and recognition of the Trust’s efforts. He reiterated the need for institutional backing to further initiatives aimed at promoting Gojri language and history.
