Anantnag, February 18, 2025: In a continued effort to combat drug-related activities, Anantnag Police have arrested two drug peddlers and seized a significant quantity of contraband from their possession.
A police team from Aishmuqam Police Station, under the supervision of SDPO Pahalgam, set up a checkpoint at Brad Aishmuqam, leading to the arrest of two individuals. The accused, identified as Farooq Ahmad Lone, son-in-law of Gh Rasool Itoo, resident of Paith Nambal (currently residing in Yall), and Zafar Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohd Afzal Bhat, resident of Khayar, were found in possession of 7.2 kilograms of cannabis husk and 256 grams of cannabis powder-like substance.
Following the arrest, a case has been registered under FIR No. 05/2025 at Aishmuqam Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug peddling in the district, emphasizing the severe risks it poses to the community. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help curb the growing menace of drug addiction.
