Vehicle Lifter Arrested, Stolen Bike and Scooty Recovered by Udhampur Police
Udhampur, 14 January 2025: The Udhampur Police successfully apprehended a vehicle lifter and recovered a stolen Bullet bike and a scooty in a swift operation.

The incident came to light on 12 January 2025, when a written complaint was lodged by Sunil Singh, son of Padam Dev Singh, a resident of Barrian, Udhampur. Sunil reported that he had parked his Bullet bike outside his shop at Slathia Chowk, but upon returning, he discovered that his bike had been stolen by unidentified individuals.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under FIR No. 21/2025 U/S 303(2) BNS at Police Station Udhampur.

To address the theft, a special team was formed under the supervision of the Station House Officer (SHO), PS Udhampur. The team utilized reliable sources and technical support to gather intelligence. Their efforts led to the identification and subsequent arrest of the suspect, identified as Rohit Atri, also known as Nittu, son of Romesh Kumar, a resident of Dalsar, Tehsil Ramnagar, District Udhampur.

During sustained questioning, the accused admitted to his involvement in the theft. Following his confession, the police recovered the stolen Bullet bike. Additionally, a scooty with registration number JK19 A4162, which had been reported stolen on 29 December 2024, was also recovered from the accused’s possession.

The swift action by the Udhampur Police has been widely appreciated by the local community, as it not only led to the recovery of the stolen vehicles but also sent a strong message against criminal activities in the area.

Further investigations are underway to ascertain if the accused was involved in other similar cases. The Udhampur Police remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
