In a significant operation, the Udhampur Police destroyed a massive quantity of seized drugs, totaling 3 Quintals 10 kilograms and 642 grams, from 26 different cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This included 310.931 kilograms of poppy straw, 528.59 grams of heroin, and 114 grams of charas, among other psychotropic substances.
The destruction was carried out through controlled incineration at M/S Anmol Healthcare, Vijaypur, Samba, following all necessary protocols to ensure environmental safety. The entire process was videographed to maintain transparency and was conducted under strict security measures.
The action was executed in compliance with Section 52-A of the NDPS Act, 1985, which lays out procedures for the disposal of seized narcotics. This ensures that illegal substances are not only removed from circulation but are also destroyed in a manner that adheres to legal and environmental standards.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first large-scale destruction operation by Udhampur Police. On December 5, 2024, they incinerated approximately 2000 kilograms of narcotics, showcasing their continued efforts in combating drug trafficking and substance abuse in the region.
The destruction of these substances demonstrates the commitment of the Udhampur Police to enforcing drug laws and creating a safer and drug-free environment. Their proactive measures are a significant step in the fight against the drug menace.
