Srinagar: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, the Srinagar police have arrested two individuals involved in drug peddling. The arrests were made during a routine checkpoint operation in the city, where the suspects were found in possession of contraband substances and a substantial amount of cash.
According to a police spokesperson, the operation was carried out following specific intelligence inputs about the movement of drug peddlers in the area. Upon interception, the suspects attempted to evade the police but were apprehended after a brief chase.
The contraband recovered includes banned narcotics, the exact quantity and type of which are being ascertained. In addition, a large sum of cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, was seized from their possession.
