Jammu, January 26, 2025: The Tiger Division of the Indian Army celebrated the 76th Republic Day at the iconic Balidan Stambh war memorial in Jammu on January 26, 2025. The event was held to commemorate the adoption of India's constitution and to honour the indomitable spirit of India's independence.
The ceremony at the Balidan Stambh was a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by India's brave soldiers. The memorial, which stands as the tallest war memorial in India at an impressive height of 60 meters, was decorated with vibrant and colorful displays for the special occasion. The Balidan Stambh, located in the heart of Jammu, is a symbol of national pride and resilience.
In a moment of solemn reverence, the Honourable Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Kumar Sinha, laid a wreath at the ‘Eternal Flame’ of the memorial. His gesture was a tribute to the supreme sacrifices made by the braveheart soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation. The Lieutenant Governor's presence at the memorial added a sense of grandeur to the event, as he paid his respects to the fallen soldiers and their families.
The Balidan Stambh, besides being a symbol of sacrifice, also houses several tributes to the nation’s gallant warriors. It features 52 memorial pillars engraved with the names of 7,512 bravehearts, each of whom made the ultimate sacrifice for the country. The pillars also showcase murals of nine Paramveer Chakra awardees and 27 Ashoka Chakra awardees, further reinforcing the nation's gratitude to these heroes.
