In a bid to directly engage with the public and understand the issues faced by the people of Bhaderwah, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Shri Sandeep Mehta (JKPS), visited Bhaderwah on 20th January 2025. During the visit, SSP Mehta held a Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meeting at Dakbaglow, which was attended by a range of local stakeholders, including prominent persons, elderly residents, local businessmen, religious associations, tourist operators, and hoteliers.
The PCPG meeting provided a platform for the public to express their grievances and concerns. Participants lauded the police for organizing such outreach programs across various areas of the district, enabling them to voice their issues. Key topics raised during the meeting included traffic congestion, Village Defence Groups (VDGs), and the increasing incidents of cyber crimes. The SSP listened attentively to the concerns and assured the attendees that issues related to police matters would be addressed on priority. Additionally, he promised to forward concerns related to other departments to the respective authorities for appropriate action.
In his address to the gathering, SSP Mehta urged the public to uphold brotherhood and communal harmony while actively supporting the police in eradicating social crimes. He emphasized the need for a collective effort in building a peaceful, crime-free environment in the district. He also encouraged the public to share information regarding illegal activities such as drug trafficking, bovine smuggling, and the manufacturing of illicit liquor, stressing that the police would take strict action against offenders under the law.
Regarding the growing issue of cyber crimes, SSP Mehta informed the public about the establishment of a Cyber Crime Unit at the district headquarters. He advised people to use social media responsibly and refrain from casual or reckless behavior online. He highlighted the potential dangers of a single irresponsible post on social media, warning that it could have a significant impact on the local community and public sentiment.
