Sakina Itoo Presides Over Induction Ceremony for First Batch of BHMS Students at GMC Kathua
Kathua, January 21: Honorable Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Miss Sakina Itoo of the National Conference (NC) from Noorabad, visited the Government Medical College (GMC) Kathua today to preside over the induction ceremony for the inaugural batch of students pursuing the Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) program.

The event witnessed the presence of MLA Kathua, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Principal of GMC Kathua, Dr. Surinder K. Attri, Registrar of the J&K Homeopathy Board and Nodal Officer for the Government Homeopathy Medical College Kathua, Dr. B.R. Dubb, along with heads of various medical specialties, senior officers, distinguished medical professionals, and a large number of students and their parents.

Addressing the gathering, Miss Sakina Itoo extended her heartfelt congratulations to the first batch of 63 BHMS students and commended their parents for supporting their aspirations in the medical field. She emphasized that the establishment of the homeopathy program at GMC Kathua marks a significant milestone in advancing healthcare education in the region.

“The introduction of the BHMS program will not only enrich the academic landscape of the state but also contribute to producing skilled and capable medical professionals who will play a vital role in serving society,” she stated.

The Minister highlighted the government's commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and promoting alternative medicine streams like homeopathy.
