Jammu, 28 January 2025: In a remarkable display of swift and efficient investigation, the Jammu Police have solved the brutal murder of a 17-year-old boy in Bhatyari, Bishnah. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the crime, and the weapons used in the offence have been recovered.
The case came to light late on the night of 13 January 2025, when Police Station Bishnah received an alert at 11:55 PM regarding the discovery of a brutally murdered body near Bhatyari, Bishnah Road. The victim, later identified as Ajay Kumar (17 years), son of Romesh Lal, a resident of Bhatyari, Bishnah, was a matador conductor by profession.
Upon receiving the report, the police registered FIR No. 04/2025 under sections 103/190/191(2)/191(3)BNS and 4/25 of the Arms Act and launched an intensive investigation.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under the leadership of SHO Bishnah, Inspector Sushil Choudhary, and supervised by SDPO R.S. Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu. The team utilized a combination of technical analysis and human intelligence to trace the culprits. Persistent efforts led to the identification of suspects, and police teams conducted raids in multiple locations across Jammu and adjoining districts.
The investigation culminated in the arrest of the following individuals:
1. Anmol Sharma (24 years), son of Ganesh Dass, resident of Jakh, Samba.
2. Nikhil Sharma (29 years), son of Bawa Ditta Sharma, resident of Jakh, Samba.
3. Nishant Choudhary (23 years), son of Parshottam Pal, resident of Vijaypur, Samba.
During sustained questioning, the accused confessed to the crime, revealing that the murder stemmed from a personal rivalry. The investigation uncovered that the incident was planned as revenge following an altercation between Anmol Sharma and another party.
According to the statements of the accused, Nikhil Sharma launched a fatal attack on the victim with a sharp-edged Toka, while Anmol Sharma and Nishant Choudhary assisted in the execution of the crime.
Key evidence was also recovered during the investigation:
The Toka and a Khukri used in the attack.
The Volkswagen Polo car (JK21H 0505) used in the commission of the crime.
With the arrests and the recovery of crucial evidence, the case against the accused has been significantly strengthened. The police are now focused on ensuring a watertight prosecution to deliver justice swiftly.
