Police Post Nehru Market Arrests Two Drug Peddlers, Seizes 30 Grams of Heroin-like Substance (Chitta)
Jammu, January 19, 2024: In a major operation aimed at curbing drug trafficking in Jammu, Police Post Nehru Market, under the ongoing Operation Sanjeevani, successfully apprehended two drug peddlers and seized 30.92 grams of a heroin-like substance, commonly known as Chitta. The arrests were made during a routine naka (checkpoint) at Warehouse, marking a significant step in the battle against narcotics in the region.

The operation unfolded during a routine police patrol when a team of officers stopped an Alto car (registration number JK18B-4096) for a search. Upon conducting a detailed inspection of the vehicle, the police team discovered the contraband hidden inside. The car was driven by Adil Gull, son of Gull Mohammad, a resident of Ashijipora, Anantnag. He was accompanied by Rayees, son of Gh. Nabi Wagay, also from Ashijipora, Anantnag.

Both suspects were immediately apprehended at the scene, and a case was filed against them under Sections 8/21/22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The investigation into the matter is ongoing, with authorities aiming to identify any connections or sources related to the seized narcotics.

In-charge Nehru Market Police Station (PSI), Ajesh Jamwal, is overseeing the probe, while SHO PS Gandhinagar, Inspector Arun Sharma, has been closely supervising the operation and the recovery process.

Jammu Police has reiterated its firm commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug-related crimes. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help in the collective fight against the growing drug menace in the region. The police also thanked the community for their continued support in maintaining public safety and law and order.

As investigations continue, Jammu Police aims to further dismantle drug networks operating in the area and ensure that those responsible for drug trafficking are brought to justice.
