Baramulla, January 22:In a continuing effort to eradicate the growing menace of drugs, the Baramulla Police have successfully apprehended a drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of contraband from his possession.
Acting on reliable information, a police team from the Boniyar Police Station, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), established a checkpoint at Chak Limber in the Boniyar area. During the routine surveillance, the team intercepted an individual identified as Gh Nabi Dar, son of the late Mohd Subhan, a resident of Babagail Limber.
Upon conducting a thorough search, the police recovered 50 grams of a contraband substance, suspected to be charas, from the suspect's possession. Following the recovery, Gh Nabi Dar was immediately taken into custody.
A formal case has been registered under the relevant sections of the law at the Boniyar Police Station, and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the source and distribution network associated with the recovered drugs.
The Baramulla Police have reiterated their commitment to fighting the drug menace and urged residents to join hands in this critical mission. They have appealed to the general public to report any instances of drug peddling or other criminal activities by contacting the nearest police station or dialing the emergency helpline number 112.
The authorities assured the community that strict legal action would be taken against anyone involved in illegal activities, emphasizing their resolve to maintain law and order and safeguard society from the adverse effects of drug abuse.
