Notorious Drug Peddler Arrested, Heroin Recovered by Udhampur Police
Udhampur, January 14: In a significant success in the fight against drug menace, Udhampur Police apprehended a notorious drug peddler and recovered a substantial quantity of heroin during a surprise checking operation near Women Degree College, Udhampur.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of the SHO, Police Station Udhampur. During routine vehicle checking, the police stopped a suspicious motorcycle bearing registration number JK14K-6445. The rider, upon noticing the police, attempted to retreat hastily, raising further suspicion.

The police team immediately intercepted the bike and conducted a thorough frisking of the rider. During the search, the team recovered 6.09 grams of heroin-like substance from the accused. The individual has been identified as Adil, son of Mohd. Aslam, a resident of Lansi, Udhampur.

Following the recovery, the accused was arrested on the spot, and the motorcycle was seized. A case under FIR No. 24/2025 has been registered at Police Station Udhampur under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act.

The police have initiated further investigations to uncover the source of the contraband and identify any links to a larger drug network operating in the region.

This arrest is part of Udhampur Police's ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and consumption in the district. The public has been urged to report any suspicious activities related to drugs to the police, contributing to a drug-free society.
