Jammu and Kashmir’s Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha, took a significant step towards promoting organ donation by registering on the Ayushman Bharat Organ Donation Registry through the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) portal (notto.abdm.gov.in).
The pledge ceremony, held at Raj Bhavan, witnessed representatives from the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) presenting the pledge certificate to the Lieutenant Governor. By committing to this noble cause, Shri Manoj Sinha has set a powerful example, encouraging citizens to contribute to saving lives through organ donation.
Addressing the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized the critical importance of organ donation in bridging the gap between demand and availability. “Organ donation is a noble act of humanity. A single donor can save several lives and give a new lease of life to those in need,” he said.
The initiative aligns with the government's efforts to create awareness about the importance of organ and tissue donation under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). It aims to simplify the registration process for potential donors while ensuring a transparent and ethical system for organ allocation.
The move has been widely appreciated by health experts, civil society, and the general public, as it reflects the administration’s commitment to advancing healthcare and fostering a culture of compassion and selflessness among the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Organ donation holds the potential to transform lives, and this inspiring step by the Lieutenant Governor is expected to encourage many others to join this life-saving initiative.
