Jammu, January 19, 2025: In a significant move to curb drug trafficking, the Jammu Police have apprehended two notorious drug peddlers, identified as Ravi, son of Jinder, and Shamoo, wife of Jinder, both residents of Rajiv Nagar. The arrests were made during a routine patrol and Naka operation in the Chowadhi area. The police recovered 49.93 grams of heroin (commonly known as "Chitta") from their possession.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 12/2025 under Sections 8/21/22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Channi Himmat Police Station. The investigation aims to trace both the forward and backward linkages of the arrested individuals to dismantle the drug supply chain.
This successful operation was conducted by a team led by Inspector Shariq Bhat, SHO of Channi Himmat Police Station, and PSI Prince Jasrotia of ICPP Sainik Colony, under the supervision of SDPO City East Jammu and SP South Jammu.
Speaking about the operation, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu expressed the department's unwavering commitment to eradicating drug abuse in the district. He highlighted the importance of community involvement in the fight against narcotics.
“We urge all citizens to support our anti-narcotics drive. Any information related to drug abuse or peddling can be shared on our helpline number 9541951100. The identity of informers will be kept strictly confidential,” assured the SSP Jammu.
The Jammu Police continue to implement measures to safeguard the youth from the dangers of drug addiction and ensure a drug-free society. The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and contribute to this collective effort against the menace of drug abuse.
