HARDCORE ABSCONDER ARRESTED BY DODA POLICE AFTER EVADING ARREST FOR NINE YEARS
Doda, January 11, 2025: In a significant breakthrough, Doda Police has arrested a hardcore absconder who had been evading arrest for the past nine years. This action comes as part of a special drive launched by Doda Police against wanted criminals and absconders.

Sharing details about the operation, SSP Doda, Sh. Sandeep Mehta, JKPS, informed that the accused, identified as Ghulam Nabi Bhat, son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat, a resident of Nowpora Pain, Beerwah, District Budgam, Kashmir, was apprehended in connection with a case registered under FIR No. 09/2011 under sections 420, 465, 466, 467, 468, and 471 of the IPC at Police Station Thathri.

The investigation of the case had been completed earlier, and a challan was presented in the court of law. However, the accused was declared an absconder after failing to appear before the court. Subsequently, a warrant of arrest under Section 299 Cr. PC was issued against him by the Hon'ble Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class (JMIC) Thathri on February 11, 2017, via order No. 54/MT.

Acting on the directions of SSP Doda, a specialized team was constituted under the leadership of Inspector Suresh Kumar, SHO Police Station Thathri. The team utilized both human intelligence and advanced technical resources during the search operation. After persistent efforts, the accused was apprehended from the jurisdiction of Police Station Magam, Budgam District, Kashmir.

The arrested absconder has since been presented before the court of law and subsequently lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah.

It is worth noting that Doda Police has intensified its campaign against absconders and wanted criminals. Special teams have been established at various police stations across the district to ensure such offenders are brought to justice. This arrest serves as a testament to the relentless efforts of the Doda Police in maintaining law and order.

Further investigations are underway, and the police continue their efforts to apprehend other absconders and wanted individuals.
