Jammu, January 7, 2025: In a significant move to curb drug trafficking and substance abuse, Jammu Police under its ongoing initiative, Operation Sanjeevani, apprehended a drug peddler and seized 3.08 grams of a heroin-like substance in the R.S Pura area of Jammu district.
The operation was carried out by a police team from Police Station R.S Pura, led by Station House Officer (SHO) during routine patrolling near BPP Chakroi. Acting on suspicion, the police intercepted a man behaving suspiciously. Upon conducting a search, the police recovered the contraband.
The accused has been identified as Naresh Kumar alias Kutti, son of Sat Pal, a resident of Chakroi near Bus Stand, Tehsil Suchetgarh, District Jammu. Following the recovery, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 02/2025 in compliance with sections 8/21/22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Police Station R.S Pura. The accused has been taken into custody for further investigation.
Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to combating the menace of drugs in the region under Operation Sanjeevani. The police have appealed to the general public to support their efforts by reporting any information about drug trafficking or suspicious activities in their vicinity. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential to encourage community participation in the fight against drug abuse.
The authorities emphasized the importance of collective efforts to create a drug-free society and called upon citizens to play an active role in safeguarding the future of the younger generation.
