Udhampur, January 18:In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Udhampur Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband heroin during routine patrolling at Tikri naka point.
The police team, led by the in-charge of Police Post Tikri, intercepted a suspicious individual who attempted to flee upon seeing the officers. The suspect, identified as Pawanjeet Singh, son of Mohan Singh, a resident of Sundrani, Chiryai Muttal, Tehsil Tikri, District Udhampur, was apprehended on the spot.
Upon frisking, the police recovered 3.38 grams of heroin-like contraband substance from his possession. Following the recovery, the accused was arrested, and a case under FIR No. 09/2025 U/S 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Rehambal.
Further investigation into the case is underway, and police are determined to curb drug-related activities in the region. This arrest highlights the Udhampur Police's continued efforts to maintain law and order and safeguard the community from the menace of drugs.
