Poonch, January 9: Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Poonch, Vikas Kundal, today convened a comprehensive meeting with the concerned officers to assess the progress and implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Scheme in the district.
The scheme, launched by the Government of India, aims to uplift and empower artisans and craftsmen by providing them with essential skill training, modern tools, and market linkages to enhance their productivity and income. It focuses on promoting traditional crafts and creating opportunities for self-reliance among skilled workers in the region.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed the status of beneficiaries identified under the scheme, the training programs conducted, and the distribution of modern tools to artisans. He emphasized the need for effective coordination among departments to ensure the seamless execution of the scheme.
Vikas Kundal highlighted the significance of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme in preserving the rich cultural heritage of the district while contributing to the local economy. He directed the officers to conduct awareness campaigns at the grassroots level to encourage more artisans to enroll in the scheme.
The meeting was attended by officers from various departments, including Industries, Handicrafts, Handlooms, and Rural Development. Detailed discussions were held on extending market linkages for local artisans, promoting their products at national and international platforms, and creating a sustainable ecosystem for traditional crafts.
The DC assured the artisans of full support from the administration and urged the officers to work diligently to achieve the scheme's objectives. He also stressed the importance of regular monitoring and feedback to address any challenges faced during implementation.
