Bovine Smuggling Attempt Foiled, Two Smugglers Arrested and Seven Bovines Rescued in Majalta, Udhampur
In a successful operation, the District Police Udhampur foiled a bovine smuggling attempt and arrested two smugglers while rescuing seven bovines from illegal transport. The police team of Police Station Majalta, led by its Station House Officer (SHO), was on routine patrolling and vehicle checking duty when they stopped a suspicious vehicle (load carrier) at Battal on Dhar road for inspection.

Upon checking the vehicle, the police found seven bovines, cruelly tied and being transported illegally without any valid permission or necessary documentation. The smugglers attempted to move the animals under inhumane conditions, but their efforts were halted by the police intervention.

The arrested smugglers have been identified as:

Mohd. Sharief, son of Mirza Khan, resident of Dhamma, Majalta

Mohd. Sharief, son of Hakam Din, resident of Krimachi, Mansar

Both were taken into custody on the spot. All the rescued bovines have been safely relocated to a secure area to ensure their well-being and protection.

A case has been registered under FIR No. 06/2025 at Police Station Majalta under the relevant sections of law, and further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
