Bovine Smuggling Attempt Foiled in Ramnagar, 6 Bovines Rescued
In a significant crackdown on bovine smuggling, the District Police of Udhampur successfully intercepted an illegal transportation attempt in the Ramnagar area, rescuing six bovines in the process.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team from Police Station Ramnagar, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), was conducting vehicle checking at Langa area. During the routine inspection, a vehicle bearing registration number JK14H-8812 was stopped for verification. Upon checking, the team discovered six bovines tied in a cruel and inhumane manner inside the vehicle. It was further revealed that the animals were being transported illegally without any valid documentation or permission.

Arrest Made on the Spot

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Joginder Kumar, son of Paras Ram and a resident of Badhole, Ramnagar, was immediately taken into custody. The police acted swiftly to ensure the safety of the animals, relocating them to a secure location.

Legal Proceedings Initiated

Following the incident, a case under FIR No. 12/2025 was registered at Police Station Ramnagar under the relevant sections of law. The authorities have assured that a thorough investigation is underway to ascertain the involvement of any other individuals or groups in this illegal activity.
