BOVINE SMUGGLING ATTEMPT FOILED BY RAJBAGH POLICE, 17 BOVINES RESCUED, ONE ARRESTED
Kathua, January 21, 2025:
In a significant breakthrough against bovine smuggling, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua, under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Sh. Shobhit Saksena, IPS, successfully rescued 17 bovines and arrested one person involved in the illegal activity. A truck used for transporting the animals was also seized during the operation.

On January 21, 2025, a police team from Police Station (PS) Rajbagh, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) and working under the supervision of the SDPO Border, conducted routine checks at the National Highway (NHW) in the Rajbagh area. During the naka/checking, the team intercepted a suspicious truck bearing registration number JK02CS-8087. The vehicle, driven by Imtiaz Ahmed, son of Mir Hussain, a resident of Madana, Surankote, was headed towards Kathua.

Upon inspection, the police discovered 17 bovines crammed inside the truck in a cruel and merciless manner. The animals were immediately rescued, the driver was arrested on the spot, and the truck was seized.

Following the incident, an FIR (No. 13/2025) was registered at Police Station Rajbagh under sections 223/BNS and 11 of the PCA Act. The police have initiated further investigations into the case to uncover more details about the smuggling network.

The rescue operation is part of Kathua Police's ongoing efforts to combat bovine smuggling in the region. Authorities have urged citizens to report any suspicious activities related to smuggling by calling 100 or 09858034100. The police have assured the public that all information shared will be treated with strict confidentiality.

The operation highlights the commitment of Kathua Police to uphold law and order and address the menace of bovine smuggling, ensuring such illegal activities are curbed effectively.
