Absconder Arrested by Doda Police After Evading Arrest for 8 Years
Doda, January 10, 2025: In a significant breakthrough, the Doda Police arrested an absconder who had been evading arrest for the past eight years. The arrest was made as part of an ongoing special drive initiated by the Doda Police to apprehend wanted criminals and absconders in the district.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sh. Sandeep Mehta JKPS, the absconder, identified as Nisar Ahmed, son of Abdul Gani, a resident of Dooru, District Anantnag, Kashmir, was wanted in connection with FIR No. 09/2011 registered under sections 420, 465, 466, 467, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police Station Thathri.

The case was thoroughly investigated, and a challan was filed in the court of law. However, the accused failed to appear in court and was subsequently declared an absconder. The Hon'ble Judicial Magistrate of Thathri issued a warrant of arrest against Nisar Ahmed under Section 512 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) on February 11, 2017.

Acting on the directions of SSP Doda, a special police team from Police Station Thathri, led by Inspector Suresh Kumar Gautam, SHO Thathri, was constituted to apprehend the absconder. Utilizing both human intelligence and advanced technical tools, the team made extensive efforts to locate the accused. Their persistent search culminated in the arrest of Nisar Ahmed from the Dooru area of Anantnag District.

The arrested individual was promptly produced before the court and has been subsequently lodged in Bhaderwah Jail.

It is noteworthy that the Doda Police have launched a dedicated campaign to arrest absconders and wanted criminals in the district. Special teams have been established at the police station level to ensure the success of this initiative. The arrest of Nisar Ahmed reflects the effectiveness of this drive and the commitment of the Doda Police in maintaining law and order in the region.
