76th Republic Day Celebrated with Great Fervor and Gaiety at District Sports Stadium Kathua
Kathua, 26th January 2025: The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with immense fervor and enthusiasm at the District Sports Stadium in Kathua. The event, marking the 76th anniversary of the Republic of India, was graced by a large gathering of citizens, dignitaries, and various educational institutions.
The chief guest of the occasion was Sh. Satish Sharma, MLA of Jammu & Kashmir, who holds the portfolio of the Ministry of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science & IT, Youth Services & Sports. Sh. Sharma unfurled the Tri-Color (National Flag) and took the salute at the march past. He also inspected the parade, which featured contingents from multiple law enforcement and educational bodies.
The March Past Contingent was led by Parade Commander SDPO Border Sh. Dheeraj Singh Katoch (JKPS) along with Second Parade Commander PSI Rajat Kotwal of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The parade comprised various groups including the District Police Line Kathua, IRP 19th Bn, PTS Kathua, 121 Bn. CRPF, Home Guard, NCC Cadets, Forest Protection Force, and several schools from the region such as NCC JS Heritage School, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua, DPS Rajbagh, Bharat Scouts & Guides, and many others.

The event was attended by several other distinguished dignitaries, including DDC Chairman Kathua Retd. Col. Mahan Singh, MLA Sh. Rajiv Jasrotia, and Deputy Commissioner Kathua Sh. Rakesh Minhas (IAS). They were accompanied by SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena (IPS), Principal SPS PTS Kathua Ms. Manjit Kaur (JKPS), Additional SP Kathua Sh. Rahul Charak (JKPS), and several senior police officers like DySP Headquarters Kathua Sh. Manjeet Singh (JKPS) and DySP DAR Kathua Sh. Subash Chander.

In addition to the flag hoisting and parade, the event featured vibrant cultural performances that added to the celebratory atmosphere. The Chief Guest, Sh. Satish Sharma, presented awards to the best performers, recognizing their efforts and achievements. The performances by students from various schools showcased the spirit of patriotism and unity.

The Republic Day celebrations were marked by an elaborate security arrangement, ensuring the safety and smooth conduct of the event. A significant number of local residents, including families and students, attended the ceremony, expressing their patriotism and pride in the nation.

The event concluded on a high note, with a collective commitment to the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution and a renewed pledge to uphold the spirit of the Republic.
