Kathua, 8th January: The 13th Police Martyr's Memorial North Zone T-20 Cricket Championship came to a successful conclusion today at the Sports Stadium Kathua. The final match of the championship was played between Hills View Rajouri and Verma Sports Club Ludhiana, with Hills View Rajouri emerging victorious by 47 runs.
The event was graced by the presence of Sh. Anand Jain IPS, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, who was the chief guest for the day. In his address, the ADGP appreciated the efforts of the Kathua Police, Shaheed Welfare Committee, and several key sponsors, including Executive President CTM Kathua, Mega Construction Kathua, Wellspun Gujarat Bhagthalli, Brick Kiln Association, and others, for their contributions to organizing the championship. He also praised the people of Kathua for their unwavering support throughout the tournament.
As part of the closing ceremony, Sh. Anand Jain distributed trophies, medals, and cash prizes to the winners, runners-up, and the management committee members. He also paid floral tributes to the martyrs and interacted with their families, distributing gifts as a gesture of gratitude for their sacrifice.
The event was attended by several distinguished dignitaries, including Sh. Shobhit Saksena IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, Sh. Shiv Kumar Sharma IPS, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Jammu-Srinagar-Kathua Range, Sh. Rakesh Minhas IAS, Deputy Commissioner Kathua, and other senior police officers, as well as representatives from the civil administration.
A total of 16 teams participated in the championship, showcasing remarkable performances throughout the tournament. The final match saw Hills View Rajouri winning the toss and opting to bat first. They set a challenging total of 162 runs in 20 overs, with Puneet, the captain, scoring 50 runs off 48 balls, including 6 boundaries and 1 six. Shiva Singh contributed with 33 runs off 29 balls, also hitting 4 boundaries and 1 six. In response, Verma Sports Club Ludhiana fell short, managing only 115 runs before being bowled out in 17.5 overs.

Puneet was named the Man of the Match for his performance with the bat, and he was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 along with a trophy. The title of Player of the Tournament was awarded to Bhagwinder of Verma Sports Club Ludhiana, who received a Maruti Alto K10 car as the prize. The Best Bowler award went to Jadarth of L B Shashtri Delhi, while Rishant Kohli of Hills View Rajouri was named the Best Batsman of the tournament, having been the top scorer throughout. Both Jadarth and Rishant received Motor Bikes for their excellent performances.

In the final tally, Hills View Rajouri lifted the championship trophy and took home a cash prize of Rs. 3.50 lakh. Meanwhile, the Runner-Up team, Verma Sports Club Ludhiana, was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2.50 lakh and medals for their efforts.

The successful conclusion of the championship was marked by a spirit of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and remembrance of the brave police martyrs, making it a memorable event for all involved.
