Doda, December 1: In a tragic incident, a car plunged into the Chenab River near the Kandhote-Shiva Pul area, resulting in the confirmation of one fatality while two individuals remain missing. District Commissioner (DC) Doda, Sh. Harvinder Singh, accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Sandeep Kumar Mehta, and rescue teams, visited the site to oversee the ongoing rescue operations and assess the situation on the ground.
The rescue efforts, spearheaded by teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local NGO Ababeel, are being carried out under extremely challenging conditions. Local volunteers have also joined hands in the operations, showcasing exemplary courage and determination.
DC Doda expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and assured all possible support from the district administration. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to locating the missing individuals and directed the rescue teams to leave no stone unturned in their efforts.
In addition to monitoring rescue operations, DC Doda reviewed the safety measures along the roadside in the accident-prone area. He highlighted the need for installing additional warning signs, protective barriers, and other preventive measures to ensure the safety of travelers.
The SSP Doda, Sandeep Kumar Mehta, assured citizens of stringent action to mitigate road safety risks and encouraged the public to report unsafe road conditions promptly.
The administration has urged the public to exercise caution while driving along the hilly and often treacherous roads in the region. As rescue operations continue, prayers pour in for the missing individuals and their families.
