In an effort to empower the youth with information about government schemes aimed at fostering self-reliance and entrepreneurship, the District Industries Centre (DIC), Doda, conducted an enlightening seminar-cum-awareness camp at Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Bhaderwah. The event was organized to provide insights into the Prime Minister Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) and the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, which are pivotal in generating employment and supporting traditional artisans.
The seminar was attended by a large number of students, budding entrepreneurs, and aspiring artisans. Senior officials from DIC Doda, along with experts and resource persons, elaborated on the objectives, benefits, and application processes of the PMEGP and PM Vishwakarma Scheme.
Highlights of the Seminar
1. Prime Minister Employment Generation Program (PMEGP):
Participants were informed about the financial assistance provided under PMEGP for setting up micro-enterprises.
Officials explained the eligibility criteria, loan subsidies, and various opportunities available for unemployed youth and women to start their own businesses.
Success stories of entrepreneurs who benefitted from PMEGP were shared, inspiring attendees to take the entrepreneurial route.
2. PM Vishwakarma Scheme:
The scheme focuses on promoting and sustaining traditional crafts and skills.
Artisans and craftsmen were guided on availing credit facilities, skill development training, and marketing support provided under the scheme.
Special emphasis was laid on preserving and enhancing traditional arts to boost self-employment opportunities in rural areas.
Interactive Sessions
The event featured an interactive Q&A session where participants raised queries about financial procedures, loan repayment, and registration processes. Officials addressed their concerns and provided practical guidance on leveraging these schemes.
Call to Action
The District Industries Centre encouraged attendees to take advantage of these initiatives to become job creators rather than job seekers. Brochures, detailed guidelines, and contact information were distributed to ensure participants could access further assistance.
The seminar concluded with a motivational address by the principal of ITI Bhaderwah, who urged the students to utilize these schemes to fulfill their entrepreneurial aspirations.
This seminar-cum-awareness camp was part of DIC Doda’s continuous efforts to drive economic growth and self-reliance among the youth of the district. Such initiatives are expected to play a crucial role in reducing unemployment and promoting traditional crafts in the region.
