Poonch. Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal today holds awareness programme on PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana here at DC Office Complex.
PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a government scheme that aims to provide free electricity to households in all over India. Under the said scheme, households will be provided with a subsidy to install solar panels on their roofs.
DC Poonch also distributed solar lights and biomass cook stoves to the migratory Scheduled Tribe (ST) population at the DC office. This initiative, facilitated by the Tribal Department, aims to improve the living conditions of local communities through eco-friendly energy solutions.
During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the critical role of renewable energy, urging all citizens of Poonch to embrace solar technology.
Under the PM Mufat Bijli Surya Ghar Yojana, the Union government offers a subsidy on these solar solutions, with the UT government of Jammu & Kashmir providing additional support. The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that beneficiaries can receive a 65% subsidy on the installation of 2KW systems, making renewable energy more accessible to the community.
The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted the importance of sustainable energy solutions in improving quality of life and supporting environmental sustainability.
