Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Rana, Reviews Water Supply in Jammu Division, Flags Unauthorized Handpump Installations
Jammu, Nov 18: Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Rana, conducted a comprehensive review of the water supply infrastructure across the Jammu division. During the meeting, he expressed serious concern over reports of unauthorized changes in site locations for the installation of handpumps.

The Minister emphasized the importance of adhering to designated plans to ensure equitable access to clean drinking water for all residents. He highlighted that any deviation from approved site allocations undermines the objectives of government schemes aimed at improving water accessibility in rural and urban areas.

Taking cognizance of the irregularities, Javed Rana directed the Chief Engineer and other senior officials of the department to enforce strict supervision across all sub-regions of the division. He instructed them to ensure that installations are carried out transparently and in accordance with the prescribed guidelines.

The Minister also reviewed the overall progress of ongoing water supply projects and urged officials to expedite their completion. He stressed the need for timely execution to address water scarcity issues, particularly in remote areas.

“Water is a fundamental necessity, and it is the government's duty to ensure its availability to every household without bias or inefficiency,” he remarked during the meeting.

Officials were advised to maintain a robust monitoring mechanism to prevent such incidents in the future. Javed Rana also encouraged citizens to report any discrepancies related to water supply projects so that immediate corrective measures could be taken.

The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to improving water infrastructure and ensuring efficient service delivery to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
