Kishtwar, November 11, 2024: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS) today finalized arrangements for the "Mega Tribal Fest" as a part of Nationwide IEC campaign under "Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan" scheduled from 15-26 November 2024.
The Mega Tribal Fest is to be held at Chowgan Ground , Kishtwar aligning with the upcoming *Janjatiya Gaurav Divas* celebration on November 15, 2024.
Addressing the meeting, DC Kishtwar stressed that the significance of the Mega Tribal Fest is to highlight the aim of the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) viz-a-viz to improve the socio-economic conditions of tribal communities in India.
“This celebration must not only honor Sri Birsa Munda’s legacy but also present an opportunity to display the diverse cultural expressions and produce of our lives cal tribal communities,” he noted.
He directed that the program should include stalls showcasing local tribal produce and cultural items to provide a glimpse into the traditions and skills of the region’s tribal population.
To ensure a smooth and impactful celebration, DC Kishtwar issued specific instructions to district officers and designated nodal officers regarding logistical arrangements.
These arrangements include stage setup, seating, water and power supply, and the public address system etc.
He emphasized that cultural performances should reflect the unique heritage of our local tribal communities, and that displays of tribal produce should be given prominence at dedicated stalls.
Key officials who attended the meeting included Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Sh. Shahnawaz Bali, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Sh. Phulail Singh, DFOs from Kishtwar and Marwah, District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Kishtwar, District Information Officer (DIO) Kishtwar, Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Kishtwar, and Assistant Director of Handicrafts. Representatives from PHE, PDD, Health, Municipal Council, and Education Department were also present to coordinate their roles in the celebration.
The DC concluded the meeting by expressing his vision of fostering awareness and pride among all citizens in the unique cultural contributions of tribal communities. He called upon all departments to work collectively in making Janjatiya Gaurav Divas an inspiring and memorable event in Kishtwar, celebrating the strength, spirit, and resilience of India’s indigenous heritage.
