New Delhi, October 16, 2024 — Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, today engaged with the IPS probationers of the 2023 Batch (76 RR) at a significant interaction event in the national capital. Addressing the young officers, Shah stressed the critical role of internal security and the importance of maintaining peace and safety for all citizens.
During the interaction, Amit Shah highlighted the government's success in controlling violence in key conflict zones across the country, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Left-Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected areas, and the Northeastern states. "Security agencies have established their complete dominance by reducing violence in these three hotspots," Shah stated, crediting the effective coordination between central and state forces for ensuring this positive trend.
The Home Minister further underscored that the safety of citizens is the cornerstone of national security. "A strong and secure nation can only be built when the safety of its people is guaranteed. You, as future leaders of the Indian Police Service, have a crucial responsibility to uphold this," Shah emphasized while addressing the probationers.
Amit Shah also shared insights on the evolving role of the Indian Police Service in modern times, highlighting the need for new strategies and technologies to combat emerging security challenges. He urged the officers to remain vigilant and adopt a proactive approach in tackling issues such as terrorism, insurgency, and organized crime, which pose significant threats to the nation's internal stability.
The event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and other dignitaries, who lauded the probationers for their dedication and commitment to serving the nation. The batch of 76 officers is currently undergoing rigorous training and is expected to take up key roles in law enforcement across various states.
The interaction was seen as part of the government's ongoing efforts to inspire and motivate the next generation of law enforcement officers to contribute effectively towards maintaining peace, order, and national integrity.
