Kishtwar: In view of the upcoming elections, the District Magistrate of Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, has imposed strict prohibitory orders under Section 163(1) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (Indian Citizens Security Code) from 6:00 PM on September 16, 2024, until the end of polling on September 18, 2024. This order has been issued with the aim of ensuring a peaceful and fair election process in the district, preventing any disruption to law and order, and ensuring that polling is conducted freely and fairly.
Key Restrictions:
1. Ban on Public Meetings: All forms of public gatherings or meetings are completely prohibited within the district of Kishtwar.
2. Ban on Assembling Crowds: Gathering of more than 5 people at any location in the district is not permitted, whether for political purposes or any other reason.
3. Ban on Political Campaigning: Any political activity related to election campaigning, such as the use of loudspeakers or public displays of propaganda, is strictly prohibited.
4. Limited Vehicle Usage: Candidates and their election agents are allowed limited use of four-wheeler, three-wheeler, or two-wheeler vehicles. Each candidate will be provided 1 vehicle for personal use, 1 for their election agent, and 1 vehicle for their workers in each Assembly segment. Vehicle capacity is limited to 5 persons, and permits for these vehicles must be displayed on the windshield, as issued by the concerned authorities.
Special Instructions for Polling Day:
1. Ban on Free Transportation: Strict restrictions are in place preventing candidates, political parties, or their agents from providing free transportation for voters to polling stations.
2. Control on Private Vehicles: No private vehicles will be allowed within a 200-meter radius of polling stations, even for family members or personal use.
3. Ban on Loudspeakers: Use of loudspeakers or amplifying devices within 10 meters of polling stations is strictly prohibited.
Purpose and Importance:
The order aims to maintain peace and law and order in the district during the election period. Its primary objective is to prevent the spread of misinformation, control crowd movements, and ensure a safe and fair electoral environment. Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating these orders.
