Kishtwar,19-09-2024: The polling in all the 3 Assembly Constituencies Viz. 48-Inderwal,49-Kishtwar and 50-Paddar Nagseni, of district Kishtwar concluded peacefully the day before, with a significant overall voter turnout of 80.35% in the district through EVMs.
The 48-Inderwal Assembly Constituency recorded the first ever highest 82.16% voter turnout. While 80.67% polling was observed in 50-Paddar-Nagseni & 78.24% in 49-Kishtwar Assembly Constituency.
The overall polling percentage is virtually 84% by inclusion of postal ballots. The employees ,elderly and PWD voters have casted votes through the Postal ballot with a significant 90 % turnover.
A significant 8% increase in voters turnout was recorded in the district Kishtwar in this election. The day witnessed the enthusiastic participation of eligible voters from all walks of life including first time voters and the women voters who thronged to their respective polling stations and casted their votes in a free, fair, and transparent manner.
Pertinent to mention that the voters in the district were very enthusiastic about this election to exercise their adult franchise fostering democratic spirit, after a gap of 10 years. Long queues of the voters were seen with “SMILE ON THEIR FACES” outside the polling stations. Slogan was given by District Election Officer Kishtwar Sh Rajesh Kumar Shavan-JKAS to celebrate the polling process in a festive way and maintain the spirit of brotherhood among the voters.
429 number of polling stations were set up as per the feasibility and accessibility of voters.Adequate security measures including the police and the CAPF were deployed at each polling station under the overall supervision of SSP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom JKPS.There were 130 critical Polling stations with 66 falling in shadow zone having no mobile network connectivity.
The BLOs,BAGs, AWWs, ASHAs and other field functionaries of the District Election Authorities played a pivotal role to facilitate the Voters including the elderly and PWD Voters at the polling stations to make the polling smooth and hassle free.
While deliberating the subject, the DEO Sh. R K Shavan said that under the instructions and guidance of ECI,it has been possible to achieve the highest turnover in Kishtwar. There remained constant support ,guidance from the Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. P K Pole who always emphasized for the maximum participation of voters.
