Kishtwar, 18th September: Demonstrating the deep roots of democracy, 87-year-old retired teacher Ghulam Haider exercised his right to vote today. He cast his vote at the polling booth in 12-Bandarna, 50-Paddar Nagseni in Kishtwar district.
Ghulam Haider, a former teacher now living a retired life, stated on this occasion that voting is the duty of every citizen, and regardless of age, we should use this right. He shared his experiences, mentioning how he has witnessed many elections throughout his life, but every time casting his vote has been a moment of pride.
The district administration made special arrangements for elderly voters so they could vote without any inconvenience. The active participation of senior citizens like Ghulam Haider sends a motivational message to the youth that every vote is crucial in strengthening democracy.
Long queues of voters were seen at various polling stations in Kishtwar, where people were enthusiastic about voting. The administration had made proper security and other arrangements to ensure a smooth voting process.
