Kishtwar, August 10, 2024. In a remarkable display of youthful energy and community spirit to commemorate the pre-independence Day celebration 2024 at District Headquarter Kishtwar, the "Mini-Marathon" organised by District Administration Kishtwar spearheaded by Deputy Commisioner Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav IAS in collaboration with District Youth Services and Sports Department Kishtwar today, brought together more than 3,000 students, both boys and girls from 12 schools across from the district.
The marathon was officially flagged off by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sh. Pawan Kotwal,JKAS in presence of Accounts Officer,DC Office Kishtwar Sh. Satinder Singh,JKAS and DYSSO Kishtwar Mr. Jaffer Haider Sheikh and staff of DYS&S Department.
Their presence highlighted the significance of such events in promoting a culture of health and wellness in spirit with the Independence Day Celebration in the district, reflecting the administration's dedication to youth development through sports.
The event, which began at 9:00 AM, took participants on a scenic route from HSS Boys to Chowgan TRC Kishtwar, marking a memorable day of sportsmanship and unity in the region.
The marathon kicked off from HSS Boys and concluded at Chowgan TRC Kishtwar, with eager students competing in the challenging yet exhilarating race. This event not only provided a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents but also celebrated community spirit and the importance of physical fitness.
Local residents came out in large numbers to cheer on the participants, adding to the festive atmosphere. The involvement of school staff, prominant citizens , and officials from various departments emphasized the importance of sports in fostering a vibrant and healthy society.
As the students crossed the finish line at Chowgan TRC Kishtwar, their sense of accomplishment was evident. Top performers were recognized and celebrated for their efforts, with medals and certificates awarded to winners in various categories.
In honor of their outstanding performances, the winners of the Mini-Marathon will be felicitated during the Main function ,Chowgan Ground on Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2024. This special ceremony will highlight their achievements and inspire others to actively participate in future events.
The District Administration Kishtwar and the Department of Youth Services & Sports expressed their gratitude to all the schools, students, and community members who contributed to the success of the event. In a parallel effort to promote cleanliness and environmental responsibility, the Department of Youth Services & Sports Kishtwar led a massive cleanliness drive under the banner of Swachhta Pakhwada, titled "Suchita Sangram" (Ek Ped Shaheedon K Naam).
The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and officials who worked together to clean public areas, parks, and markets.This initiative not only aimed to enhance the cleanliness of public spaces but also paid tribute to martyrs by planting trees in their memory.
