Kishtwar, August 24, 2024: In view of the upcoming Shri Krishan Janmashtami festival, a comprehensive market checking was conducted today in Kishtwar town on the directions of Deputy Commisioner Kishtwar Sh Rajesh Kumar Shavan-JKAS.
The exercise was led by Shafkat Keen, Assistant Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), and included a team comprising the Food Safety Officer, and officers and officials from the Revenue Department,Police and Municipality.
The market inspection aimed to ensure the quality and pricing of essential commodities, particularly those in high demand during the festive season. The team conducted thorough checks at various shops and market establishments to ensure compliance with the necessary regulations.
During the inspection, defaulters were identified for non-compliance with the prescribed guidelines. As a result, a fine amounting to ₹3,000 was imposed against these violators. The action underscores the administration's commitment to maintaining fair trade practices and ensuring the safety and well-being of consumers.
The district administration has urged all shopkeepers and traders to adhere to the established norms, especially in light of the forthcoming festival, to ensure that the public is provided with quality products at reasonable prices.
