_Kishtwar District to Witness 1st Phase; DEO Urges All Citizens of Kishtwar to Exercise their Voting Rights on September 18th, 2024_
Kishtwar: 17-08-2024: In a crucial step to ensure the smooth conduct of the General Election to the Legislative Assembly 2024, the District Election Officer (DEO) Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan-JKAS, today held his maiden press briefing, addressing the media in a comprehensive session.
Accompanied by Deputy District Election Officer Kishtwar, Idrees Ahmed Lone-JKAS, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pawan Kotwal-JKAS, the DEO emphasized the district’s significance as the largest in the region, with over 175,000 registered voters.Kishtwar District is set to participate in the first phase of the Legislative Assembly Election on September 18th, 2024.
During the briefing, DEO Kishtwar highlighted the importance of citizens exercising their democratic right, underscoring the need for responsible participation in the electoral process.
He informed the press that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has been enforced across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir as of August 16th, 2024, and provided detailed guidelines on its implementation.
The district, comprising three Legislative Assembly constituencies—48-Inderwal, 49-Kishtwar, and 50-Nagseni Paddar—will witness polling under the first phase of the election. To facilitate a seamless voting process, 428 polling booths have been established, including 12 unique polling stations strategically placed across the district.
The DEO also outlined the extensive preparations undertaken to ensure free and fair elections, including the formation of Media Monitoring committees and Expenditure Monitoring Committees, Surveillance Squards, establishment of control rooms, and the designation of nodal officers to oversee the enforcement of the MCC.
Highlighting the ongoing SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) campaign and Revision of Electoral Rolls , DEO Kishtwar Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan urged all eligible citizens to actively participate in shaping the future of the Union Territory by casting their votes.
“With all necessary arrangements in place, Kishtwar is prepared for this pivotal day in our democratic calendar,” stated DEO Kishtwar, urging citizens to exercise their right to vote responsibly in the upcoming General Election to the Legislative Assembly 2024.
