New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi raised serious questions about the government's Agniveer scheme during his speech in the Lok Sabha. He alleged that soldiers serving under this scheme and their families do not receive adequate support from the government.
Rahul Gandhi claimed that he recently met with the family of an Agniveer in Punjab, where he was told that the family did not receive any assistance from the government after the Agniveer's martyrdom. Citing this incident, he said the government should ensure the safety and respect of soldiers and their families under this scheme.
In his speech, Gandhi said, "I met with the family of a martyred Agniveer in Punjab. Their family received no help from the government. This is a very serious issue. Our soldiers sacrifice their lives for the country, and their families receive no assistance; this is unacceptable."
He further stated that the Agniveer scheme needs to be reconsidered and the government should seriously address this issue. Following Rahul Gandhi's statement, the discussion in the House heated up, and several other leaders also expressed their opinions on the matter.
The government's Agniveer scheme aims to recruit young people into the army and provide them with various types of training and opportunities. However, this scheme has faced criticism from time to time. Rahul Gandhi's statement has once again brought this scheme into the spotlight.
