People Risk Lives to Cross Fast-Flowing Nallah Mawer at Reshwari, Several Children Drowned in the Past

In Reshwari village of Kupwara (Jammu & Kashmir), people are risking their lives to cross the fast-flowing Nallah Mawer. This nallah becomes particularly dangerous during the rainy season, making crossing it even more hazardous.

Due to the absence of a safe bridge in the village, people have to resort to temporary and risky methods to cross this nallah. Children have to cross it to go to school, and villagers have to cross it for their daily chores, constantly putting their lives in danger.

In the past few years, several children have drowned while attempting to cross this nallah. Recently, some children lost their lives by being swept away in the strong currents of this nallah.

Local residents have repeatedly appealed to the government to construct a permanent and safe bridge over this nallah. However, their appeals have gone unheard so far. The locals say that if appropriate measures are not taken soon, more lives could be lost to this dangerous nallah.

Government officials are aware of the problem, but no concrete steps have been taken yet. People claim that due to the administration's indifference, they have to take this risk, and immediate action is needed to secure the children's future.

Residents of Reshwari are still hopeful that the administration will listen to their pleas and construct a safe bridge over Nallah Mawer to save their lives.
