Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Minister Basharat Bukhari has rejoined the People's Democratic Party (PDP) after a long gap of six years. Bukhari took up the party's membership in the presence of party chief Mehbooba Mufti on Friday.
Bukhari had left the PDP in 2018 to join the National Conference (NC). His rejoining the PDP has infused new energy into the party and is considered a significant step ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
On this occasion, Mehbooba Mufti said, "It is a pleasure to welcome back an experienced leader like Basharat Bukhari to our party. His experience and leadership will strengthen the party." Bukhari also remarked, "I have always believed in the principles of the PDP and Mehbooba Ji's leadership. I am ready to serve the party."
Basharat Bukhari's rejoining of the PDP is a significant event in the politics of Jammu and Kashmir, and it has raised the possibilities of changes in the state's political landscape.
