In a significant development aimed at advancing urban infrastructure and services, Chief Secretary Sh. Atal Dulloo conducted a comprehensive review of the ongoing Smart City projects in Srinagar and Jammu. Emphasizing efficient resource utilization and timely completion, the Chief Secretary scrutinized various initiatives critical to enhancing the quality of life in both cities.
The review encompassed a range of pivotal projects, notably the introduction of e-bus operations, initiatives for lake cleaning, and the promotion of water transport systems. Highlighting the imperative of economic viability, Dulloo stressed the need for optimal utilization of resources across these ventures.
A key focus of the meeting was the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) - Urban scheme, aimed at making housing more accessible and attractive to eligible applicants. The Chief Secretary underscored the importance of streamlining processes to facilitate smoother implementation across urban areas.
During the session, the Commissioner Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Department presented a detailed overview of the ongoing works, outlining both achievements and challenges encountered. It was revealed that out of the 127 projects in Jammu and 184 in Srinagar, a significant number have either been completed or are nearing completion. Several projects are slated to be inaugurated for public use by September this year.
