Gonda, Uttar Pradesh: The Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express train derailed near Gonda early this morning, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuring several others. The accident occurred at around 3:30 AM when the train suddenly went off the tracks during its journey.
Local authorities and railway officials promptly arrived at the scene and initiated relief and rescue operations. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals where they are receiving treatment.
According to railway officials, the cause of the accident is not yet clear and an investigation is underway. The incident has disrupted rail traffic on that route, with several trains either canceled or rerouted.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have expressed their condolences over the incident and assured that all possible assistance will be provided to the affected families.
The railway department has also issued a helpline number for relatives and passengers to get information.
