Kishtwar, July 11, 2024 - The District Magistrate of Kishtwar has issued a new order under the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988, prohibiting the sale of fuel to two-wheeler riders without helmets. This step has been taken to promote road safety and reduce accidents.
According to the District Magistrate's order, all petrol pumps in Kishtwar district are instructed not to sell petrol or diesel to two-wheeler riders who are not wearing helmets. This order will come into effect immediately, and strict action will be taken against any violations.
The main objective behind this decision is to strictly enforce the mandate of wearing helmets. Statistics show that wearing helmets significantly reduces the mortality rate in road accidents.
The police department and district administration will work together to strictly enforce this order. Petrol pump owners and employees are instructed to ensure compliance with this order and report any irregularities to the concerned authorities immediately.
Violation of this order will result in fines not only for petrol pump owners but also legal action against the two-wheeler riders.
The district administration has appealed to the public to follow road safety rules and ensure their safety by wearing helmets.
Welcoming this step, several social organizations have stated that this decision will prove to be a significant milestone for road safety in Kishtwar and will reduce the number of serious injuries in accidents.
