Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande Set to Retire on June 30, 2024"


General Manoj Pande, the Chief of the Indian Army, will retire on June 30, 2024. He was granted a one-month extension by the central government. General Pande served as the 29th Chief of the Army Staff from April 30, 2022, to June 30, 2024. He is notable for being the first officer from the Corps of Engineers to lead the Indian Army.

Following General Pande's retirement, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, currently serving as the Vice Chief of Army Staff, is the senior-most official. Additionally, Lieutenant General Ajai Kumar Singh, the Southern Army Commander, is also considered a strong contender for the position of Army Chief.
